Ian Blunt, M.Sc.

Vice President of Advanced Analytics, Highmark Health
Ian is Vice President of Advanced Analytics at Highmark Health, a national blended health organization providing Blue-branded health plans, facility-based care, and other solutions to drive growth, reduce costs and improve outcomes in healthcare. His role covers generating new insights using data science techniques (machine learning, MLOps, natural language processing, predictive modeling, AI, and generative AI), using those insights to trigger simple, personalized and proactive actions to support the health of our members, patients, clinicians and clients (and identify where new solutions are needed), delivering applied health services research to understand the impact of those actions and continuously improve them, and healthcare more broadly, implementing automation, AI, and our own portfolio of analytic products to help Highmark’s internal processes work more efficiently Before joining Highmark, Ian was a senior research analyst for the Nuffield Trust, where he used advanced analytics to study the impact of public policy on the UK's health system. He also previously worked for the UK's healthcare regulator, building and leading their data-driven inspection targeting program for compliance. He holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, both from King’s College London.

Jesse Ehrenfeld, M.D., MPH

Immediate Past President, American Medical Association
Jesse M. Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, was inaugurated as the 178th president of the American Medical Association in June 2023. He is a senior associate dean, tenured professor of anesthesiology and director of the “Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment” at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He was first elected to the American Medical Association Board of Trustees in 2014. Dr. Ehrenfeld divides his time among clinical practice, teaching, research and directing a $560-million statewide health philanthropy. He also has an appointment as an adjunct professor of anesthesiology and health policy at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and as an adjunct professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Ehrenfeld is a consultant to the World Health Organization Digital Health Technical Advisory Group and previously served as co-chair of the Navy Surgeon General’s Taskforce on Personalized and Digital Medicine and as a special advisor to the 20th U.S. Surgeon General. Dr. Ehrenfeld’s research, which focuses on understanding how information technology can improve surgical safety and patient outcomes, has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, and the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research. He currently serves on the National Academy of Medicine’s Health Policy Fellowships and Leadership Programs Advisory Committee. His work has led to the publication of more than 275 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Systems and has co-authored 22 clinical textbooks that have been translated into multiple languages. Dr. Ehrenfeld has received numerous awards for his research and is a recipient of several prestigious teaching awards. Dr. Ehrenfeld made AMA history as the first openly gay president of the organization. For the past two decades, he has been a nationally recognized advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals. In 2018, in recognition of his outstanding research contributions, he received the inaugural Sexual and Gender Minority Research Investigator Award from the director of the NIH. Born in Wilmington, Del., Dr. Ehrenfeld is a graduate of Phillips Academy, Haverford College, the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency in anesthesiology and a research informatics fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Board-certified in both anesthesiology and clinical informatics, Dr. Ehrenfeld is a fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Informatics Association. A combat veteran who deployed to Afghanistan during both Operation Enduring Freedom and Resolute Support Mission, Dr. Ehrenfeld, for his work in capturing and supporting the lives of LGBTQ+ people, was recognized in 2015 with a White House News Photographers Association award and, in 2016, with an Emmy nomination. Dr. Ehrenfeld and his husband, Judd Taback, have two children.

Vincent Liu, M.D., M.Sc.

Chief Data Officer, The Permanente Medical Group, Kaiser Permanente
Vincent Liu, MD MSc is the Chief Data Officer for The Permanente Medical Group of Kaiser Permanente Northern California and a Research Scientist at the KP Division of Research. He leads programs in responsible AI implementation and data science to improve care delivery and patient outcomes. He has authored >200 scholarly publications and is an expert in the use of complex EHR data, machine learning, health system evaluation in acute care and sepsis. He has served as an expert panelist in AI and sepsis research for the NIH, NAM, NQF, and NCQA.

Danielle Lloyd, MPH

Senior Vice President, Private Market Innovations & Quality Initiatives, America's Health Insurance Plans
Danielle Lloyd is an experienced health care executive with a demonstrated history of working collaboratively with health systems, clinicians, health plans and others to advance value-based care and payment through enabling data and technologies. She is skilled in Government Relations, Healthcare Consulting, and Analytics and is an expert in quality measurement, alternative payment models, health information technology and Medicare fee-for-service payment policies.
