We would like to invite you to join us for a day-long conference focusing on the fundamentals of health policy, the American health care system, and how it relates to the legislative process. “Health Policy Academy” is ideal for Congressional staff members looking to expand and strengthen their knowledge of health policy through panel discussions with key experts and current senior congressional staff. This event is open to all full-time staff with or without experience in health policy as part of their portfolio.

This bipartisan event will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Reserve Officers Association Building, One Constitution Ave. NE (across from the Dirksen Senate Office Building) in Washington, D.C. This bipartisan retreat is presented by the Alliance for Health Policy, with support from the Catholic Health Association of the United States.

Please register in advance to secure your spot at this event as space is limited.

Sessions will focus the following topics:

  • Overview of the U.S. Health Care System
  • Health Care Coverage Fundamentals
  • Policy to Practice: Perspectives from the Health Care System
  • The Basics of the Federal Budget and Appropriations Process
  • Perspectives from Committee Staff

For each panel, we will have leading experts to present and a moderator to lead the discussion. With the allotted time, you and your colleagues will have an opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas about policy options.

Breakfast and lunch will both be provided and there is no fee to attend this one-day event. This event is off-the-record and no media or press will be allowed entry. Also, because this event is widely attended and will be held on Capitol Hill, there are no special ethics requirements or hotel reservations for you to complete.

The Alliance would like to thank the Catholic Health Association of the United States for its support of this program.
