WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 3, 2018) – The Alliance for Health Policy is pleased to announce that Reed V. Tuckson, M.D., managing director of Tuckson Health Connections, has been elected chair of the board of directors and Thomas A. Scully, J.D., of Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, is the elected vice chair.

“Reed and Tom bring years of diverse knowledge and perspectives to our board leadership, and represent a broad spectrum of bipartisan approaches to health care policies,” said president and CEO, Sarah J. Dash. “Together, with our board of directors, the Alliance is well-positioned to continue its mission of providing nonpartisan, evidence-based education and dialogue to the beltway health policy community and beyond.”

Dr. Tuckson joined the board in 1991 at the inception of the organization and has been a champion for the Alliance while serving as president of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science; the senior vice president, professional standards, of the American Medical Association; and the executive vice president and chief of medical affairs at UnitedHealth Group.

Mr. Scully brings special insights to the Alliance as exemplified by his service as the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under President George W. Bush and his leadership roles in private sector health care delivery.

The Alliance also expresses its appreciation to its outgoing chair, Robert Graham, M.D., whose leadership has been essential in overseeing the evolution of the Alliance to meet the exciting opportunities before us to realize the Alliance’s vision of creating a better health care system through bipartisan dialogue and informed opinions.
